Mill Road Discovery Project
Description
A temporary networked system that was set up at a legacy cemetery in Cambridge, UK, to encourage visitors to engage with the cemetery in new ways. The system comprised indoor and outdoor components. The outdoor components were mobile devices given out to visitors at the cemetery, who were encourage to use them to take photographs, make notes, access information and communicate with the indoor location. The indoor component was a computer system, located in a nearby building, that tracked the activities of the outdoor users on a digital map. Users of the indoor system were encouraged to communicate with the outdoor users to supply information from parish records, historical maps and newspaper clippings.
